Clopidol 25% Premix is a feed-grade anticoccidial Type A medicated article containing 25% w/w clopidol (meticlorpindol) adsorbed on a suitable carrier. It is intended for incorporation into finished feeds for poultry to aid in the prevention of coccidiosis.
Indications:
Clopidol 25% Premix is used in broiler chickens, replacement pullets (up to 16 weeks of age), and meat turkeys as an aid in the prevention of coccidiosis caused by Eimeriaspp., including: E. tenella,E. acervulina,E. maxima,E. necatrix,E. brunetti,E. mitis / E. mivati,E. praecox
It is effective against the early (sporozoite and early trophozoite) stage of the coccidial life cycle and must be fed continuously for optimal protection.
Action:
Clopidol inhibits the development of coccidial sporozoites and early trophozoites by interfering with pyridine nucleotide-dependent metabolic processes (vitamin B₁-dependent thiamine metabolism) in the parasite, thereby preventing invasion and multiplication within the intestinal epithelium.
