Properties: Colorless crystals or white crystalline powder, odorless, sour. It is a mixture of equal amounts of right-handed and left-handed tartaric acid, often containing one or two crystal waters, which are lost when heated to 100°C . It is stable in air, with a density of 1.697 , a solubility of 20.6 in water (20°C) , about 1% in ether , and 5.01 in ethanol (25°C) .

In Food:
The application of DL Tartaric acid in food: making candies and frostings for cakes, pancake, cookie, baked goods and confectionaries, dairy products, edible oils and fats, tinned fruits and vegetables, seafood products, meat and poultry products, sugar preserves, chewing gum, cocoa powder.
In Beverage:
DL Tartaric Acid is used in beverage such as juice beverages and soft drinks and alcoholic drinks.
