Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), also known as dibutyl hydroxytoluene, is a lipophilic organic compound. It is a derivative of phenol. BHT has antioxidant properties. It is white to yellow powder with a very faint odor. BHT is also used as a food preservative and medicine.
