Ammonium chloride allowed as feed additive for sows
August 01, 2024
Ammonium Chloride Feed Grade serves as feed additive for various feed stocks such as lambs, cows, and pets such as cats and dogs. It has a positive effect on the prevention of urinary calculi and therefore improves the welfare and performance of these animals significantly.
European Union allows ammonium chloride as a feed additive for sows ((EU) 2023/1710). The feed additive is only authorized from the 9th to the 11th week of gestation and from the 15th week of gestation to the 1st week of lactation. During these phases, a maximum amount of 5000 mg/kg is allowed in the sow feed.
Ammonium chloride can be used to reduce the dietary electrolyte balance (dEB), depress blood pH, or increase urinary acidity.
